Bridesmaids – “Keeping the Peace & Your Friendships!”

While full-blown catfights are rare, conflict between bridesmaids and the Bride are unfortunately very common, and can sometimes test the best of friendships. Cry

Here are a few tips that, I hope, will help you prevent this from happening to you:

THE SELECTION –Preparing for your big day is a great opportunity to have fun and create wonderful memories and you shouldn’t feel obligated to ask anyone except your dearest friends and family. At times though, there may be others you feel you should involve (Maybe your fiancée’s sister or cousin). If that’s the situation, try to include them in activities with the rest of the group as often as possible to avoid any frustration or hurt feelings on their part. It’s hard to be comfortable with someone you don’t know that well, but it may pay off in the long run… and who knows, you might even make a friend for life!

THE DRESS - All women have certain "issues" when it comes to clothing, we all know that! Consider giving your girls a few options as far as style and color is concerned. After all, even if for just a short while, they will have all eyes on them when walking down that aisle: allowing them to be comfortable in their dress means giving them confidence and peace of mind and therefore eliminates any stress before, during and after your ceremony!

THE WORK – Programs, favors and seating charts are just a few of the tasks your girls will gladly help you with… just don’t get upset if they can’t make it every time (everyone has obligations of their own) and try to keep it even amongst them, that way no one feels overwhelmed.

In the end, these are your friends and you should be able to communicate with them no matter what!  This is your day andif they’re not being supportive enough, or they’re trying to “steal your thunder”, you should approach them {nicely ;-)} to fix it before it reaches the point of no return!!

Personalize It!

A lot of brides have asked me how to make their wedding different than any other they have been to... here are some of my suggestions:

Who says you have to walk down the aisle to the same tunes that have been playing for the past hundreds of years? While a wedding march  will always work for the traditional bride, how about choosing a song that is the most significant to you both? If you do not have a DJ for your ceremony, ask your musician to take a listen to the track: most of them will be glad to create an arrangement just for you... even more special!
